Regattas

All levels of participants in Youth Sailing Foundation’s programs have opportunities to experience the fun, intense excitement of regattas. Regattas give our sailors the chance to hone their skills by racing against a diverse group of sailors. Our Vero Beach Varsity and Shelby Racing Teams, along with other qualified students, compete in a number of regattas throughout the school year in various locations around the state of Florida.

YSF hosts at least two regattas each year – the Veterans Day Regatta in November and the Steven Martin Memorial Regatta in the spring, named for Steven Martin, a dedicated instructor and supporter of Youth Sailing Foundation, who exemplified the quintessential sailor with decades of sailing experience. Martin passed away in 2013. Both regattas are part of the Florida East Coast Series for Opti’s and C420’s.

EAST COAST YOUTH SERIES

The series brings Florida Opti and 420 sailors together for fun, consistent racing and comradery. (The Open Bic fleet will not be offered for the current series due to lack of interest. If interest returns in the future, Open Bics will be offered in future series.)

All levels, including novice sailors, are welcome.

The emphasis is on seamanship, sportsmanship and fun.
